Yesterday I was at Martin Mere, a WWT centre in west Lancashire. There are currently 1200 whooper swans from Iceland overwintering there and they are amazing to watch. Its difficult to know where to look, and the noise is amazing. I painted this watercolour sketch from the comfort of a hide; luxury! The swans feed on the mere just metres away from you so I didn’t even need to use a telescope. Definitely want to come back here more often.
