My river drawing from yesterday is a watercolour sketch, painted from the north side of the river just upstream of Halton. I finished it at 19.20, it was still hot and the light was beautiful. Summer is at its best at the moment, we have a heatwave and shadows look blue-black against the golden light later in the day. I swam in the river afterwards and had it entirely to myself, apart from my dog.
The ink sketch is from this morning, out with my Tuesday morning art class in Galgate. They were practising drawing with ink using dip pens and I was playing around with the effects you can get, varying ink on dry or wet paper. The trees are growing along the bank of the River Conder.
