This watercolour shows silver birch woodland in Glen Feshie, Speyside, in the Scottish Highlands. In early October the leaves glow bright golden yellow and the woodlands are at their best. I sketched this outdoors, rapidly. Glen Feshie lies below the magnificent Cairngorm mountain range, and the first snow had just fallen.
The painting is framed in pale wood. Including the frame it measures 16″ x 18.5″ (40 x 47cm).
