Commissioned artwork – FAQ

How to get started with commissioning a portrait?

It is helpful if you have  an idea if you would prefer a painting or drawing, so you could begin by taking a look at my gallery of portraits. I am also happy to offer recommendations on which media to choose, to best reflect the character of your subject.

Can I include two animals in my portrait?

Yes, I am very happy to paint two subjects in one portrait. However this is only suitable for larger portrait sizes, and it will cost more to reflect the increased time required. Please contact me to discuss this.

What next?

I will update you with the progression of your painting through photos sent via email or by phone, and ensure you are delighted with the finished portrait.

What is the payment process?

Payment is accepted directly via BACS. I require a 25% payment in advance, in order to cover material costs and as a deposit.

Do you supply the portraits with a frame?

I normally supply portraits ready to frame. I am  however very happy to advise on framing. On occasion I am able to provide the portrait framed, please discuss this with me.

How long do commissioned paintings take?

My portraits normally take between 2 weeks to 2 months, depending on my waiting list. Please be sure to contact me in adequate time if you require your painting by a specific date, and let me know when it is needed.
